Super Car Restoration

Website Design & Development

Super Car Restoration is an award winning body shop that focuses on classic car restoration. So, when they approached us about a new website for their business we knew our team needed to create a way to showcase their amazing work. SCR needed a complete overhaul and redesign that focused on their work and made it easy to navigate their library of finished and in-progress cars.

Project Challenge

Visitors trying to navigate the previous website found it frustrating from a lack of user experience design. Hours, contact information and the general navigation were clunky to maneuver through. It also failed to highlight the high level of work and detail that went into Super Car Restorations’ projects.

On the backend, SCR didn’t have an easy to use CMS to make any edits themselves. Coupled with this was an outdated WordPress version that lacked security and feature updates.

Voyage Media Works needed to create a website that presented the cars up-front to show-off the award winning work that SCR was doing behind the scenes. We needed to cater to the audience that would be visiting the site, and the way to do that is to show the proof of their expertise right up front.

Website Design & Development

Our Solution

The finished website effectively presents and showcases their winning car restorations through a newly designed gallery system of finished and in-progress cars. This allows users to check back in on current projects and view them as they progress. Additionally, through a thoughtful design process we created a new brand image of design that enables users to find information quickly and efficiently. With CDN implementation and efficient compression methods, SCR can now deliver hundreds of high quality photos of their work without slowing anything down.

Initial Analysis

Starting from scratch on the entire website design gave us the opportunity and freedom to experiment with a few designs before locking in one that worked with the SCR’s vision. With a streamlined approach to collecting and labeling photos, we were able to focus on creating a user experience that caters to their demographic. With a solid foundation on their wants and needs for the new site, our team at Voyage Media Works was able to lock in key design elements, establish analytics reporting and set a workflow for future updates.

The most difficult aspect in the strategy and planning stages were to determine the best site structure that would merge the Golf Course and Event Center together while still keeping it organized and focused for each section. Users needed to be able to clearly see that multiple services were offered and navigate to information, specials, bookings and more.

User Focused Design

Our approach to website design centers around how the user will interact with the site while providing the content and information they want. Our team wanted to make people feel like they were at a car show and take a step back in time to see these cars in all their glory. To do that, our team worked with SCR to photograph their garage and shop and see what they do up-close and personal. From the paint booth to the garage floor you can get a peek inside the inner workings of SCR’s process.
Once our wireframe was complete, the real fun started. SCR provided us dozens of cars and photos from over the years to begin organizing and showcasing on the site. To make it feel like that car show, we provided an image heavy design that let’s the cars speak for themselves. The look and feel of the homepage starts that process by opening on great finished projects and scrolling down puts you right in the path to view their other cars.

Project Conclusion

Between checking and double-checking car organization and labeling was correct and putting the final touches on all our platform optimizations the launch of sc553.com was a success. Our team built out dozens of custom galleries that showcased Super Car Restorations award winning work in a completely new way that puts the users almost inside of the car itself. SCR saw organic growth of 85%, a 29% increase in sessions and now gets over 500 page views a month.
